International Competition
2027 Virtus Asia Oceania Games
The Australian team travels to Bangkok in February 2027 to compete in the second edition of the Virtus Asia Oceania Games. NSW & ACT athletes will be part of that team.
About the Games
The Virtus Asia Oceania Games is the second edition of this regional multi-sport event, bringing together top athletes with intellectual impairment from across Asia and Oceania. It is supported by the Sports Authority of Thailand, the National Paralympic Committee of Thailand, national sports federations, and other key partners.
The Games are a proving ground for athletes on the pathway to Virtus World Championships and Global Games. For many athletes, the Asia Oceania Games are the first international competition in their career.
What this means for NSW and ACT athletes
Athlete Expressions of Interest for the 2027 Australian team closed on 15 August 2026. Selection is now underway, managed by Sport Inclusion Australia. Athletes selected must hold current Virtus International Eligibility (II-1, II-2, or II-3).
Sport Inclusion NSW & ACT is proud to support NSW and ACT athletes who have applied. If you are an NSW or ACT athlete who submitted an EOI, you will be contacted by SIA directly with selection outcomes. All athletes on the Australian team must hold Virtus International Eligibility. If you are working toward international competition and do not yet have Virtus International eligibility, start the process as soon as possible — international applications can take several months.
